New to AI? Start here
A free AI app is like a very helpful assistant that lives on your phone. You type what you need in plain words, and it writes back: a letter, a meal plan, a weekend plan. No tech skills needed.
-
Step 1: Get a free AI app
Pick one way. Both are free to start.
- As an app: open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). Search for ChatGPT or Gemini. Choose the one made by OpenAI or Google, then tap Get or Install.
- No download: open your phone's web browser and go to chatgpt.com or gemini.google.com.
Some let you try before you sign in. Others ask you to sign in first. A free account is normal, and it costs nothing. Free plans can have daily limits.
-
Step 2: Copy a prompt
A prompt is just the message you send to the AI. Open any chore on ChoreHacks and tap the big Copy prompt button. Done.
-
Step 3: Paste it into the AI app
Tap the message box at the bottom of the AI app. Press and hold until you see Paste, then tap it.
On a computer: press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac).
-
Step 4: Fill in the [brackets]
Anything in [square brackets] is a blank for you. Delete the brackets and type your own details.
[your city]becomesDenverNo need to be perfect. A few words is plenty.
-
Step 5: Send it and chat
Tap the send arrow. The answer shows up in seconds.
Not quite right? Just reply like you would to a person: “Make it shorter.” or “Make it friendlier.”
Good to know
- Keep private stuff private. Don't type passwords or bank card numbers into any AI app.
- AI can get things wrong. Double-check anything important before you act on it.
